Preparing Nonprofit Leaders to Harness AI

Wilmington University will train the leadership team at Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County to harness artificial intelligence through a new partnership aimed at strengthening nonprofit workforce development.
“The College of Professional and Continuing Education is excited to work with Goodwill’s leadership team to explore how AI tools can be applied responsibly and strategically across the organization,” says Rick Beno, associate dean of COPCE. “This training program will better position Goodwill to support their employees, strengthen their mission and expand its community impact.”
Founded in 1921, Goodwill of Delaware is the state’s oldest nonprofit workforce training organization. The AI training builds on the organization’s recent efforts to prepare employees and job seekers for a rapidly evolving workplace. In June, Goodwill hosted an AI literacy workshop focused on workforce development and future-ready skills.
“The world of work is changing rapidly, and Goodwill is committed to making sure the people we serve are prepared for what’s next,” Goodwill CEO Colleen Morrone said in a statement.
The customized WilmU program will focus on practical, responsible uses of AI to help organizational leaders improve decision-making, enhance operations and better serve their communities. The AI for Organizational Leaders program will be presented in three two-hour sessions at the Brandywine campus in September and October.
