Nurse Anesthesiology Program Draws ‘Tremendous Interest’

More than 330 applicants vied for 30 available seats in Wilmington University’s Delaware Nurse Anesthesiology Program (DNAP) during its most recent admissions cycle.
The intense competition reflects growing demand for nurse anesthetists and strong interest in a doctoral program that combines rigorous academics with immersive clinical preparation, says Program Director Dr. Jacqueline Mainwaring.
Each of the 337 applicants was independently reviewed by two faculty members; 72 applicants advanced to interviews, and 71 participated in the program’s multiple mini-interview process. Thirty candidates were accepted to the program, and additional qualified applicants were placed on the waitlist.
“Our tremendous interest reflects the growing demand for the nurse anesthesia profession and the unique opportunity our program provides,” Dr. Mainwaring says.
Through WilmU’s partnership with ChristianaCare and other partners, the program combines doctoral education with hands-on clinical preparation. Its collaborative culture emphasizes academic excellence, student well-being and the development of highly skilled nurse anesthetists prepared to meet the growing needs of patients and the region.
