As organizations increasingly rely on data to drive smarter decisions, professionals with the skills to turn complex information into meaningful insights are in demand. Wilmington University’s new Master of Science in Data Science is designed for students looking to deepen their expertise, advance their careers or retool for a new career path.

“We’re always interested in what’s going on in the region, and we know that there is an industry need for data science,” says Dr. John Sparco, director of Data and Computing Sciences in the College of Sciences and Engineering.

The interdisciplinary program connects data science with organizational strategy, operational efficiency and innovation, preparing graduates for roles in data science, business intelligence, analytics, healthcare, life sciences, cybersecurity, finance, technology and operations management. Students engage in hands-on problem-solving and interact with practitioners, gaining career-focused experience.

The program’s online option accommodates working professionals and provides versatile skills across industries. “Someone who’s working part-time or full-time can complete their coursework,” he says. “This degree cuts across disciplines and supports the tools needed in any sector.”
