New MBA Chair Brings Real-World Experience

Dr. Shawn McCloud

Dr. Shawn McCloud is the new chair of the MBA Program, bringing solid backgrounds in academia and business.

“We are confident that his leadership will drive the program to new heights,” says Dr. Robin B. Weinstein, dean of the College of Business.

Dr. McCloud earned his Doctor of Business Administration degree at Wilmington University and joined the faculty in 2020 as the assistant chair of Graduate Studies in the College of Business. Most recently, he chaired the Master of Science in Management programs.

For over 25 years, he worked in finance, marketing, and operations in the gaming industry, including a stint as executive director of financial and marketing analysis at Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. He began his career in academia at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.

“Dr. McCloud’s visionary leadership and extensive experience in the field make him the ideal person to expand upon the success of our MBA program,” Dr. Weinstein says. “His vision is to ensure that our curriculum remains cutting-edge and relevant, preparing students to meet the demands of leadership in a rapidly changing world. Under Dr. McCloud’s guidance, we are confident that our MBA graduates will be exceptionally well-equipped to navigate and thrive in the complexities of today’s global business environment.”

Dr. McCloud is also committed to the community, serving as the administrator of a youth swimming league and the treasurer of several non-profit organizations.
