Wilmington University Named to Phi Theta Kappa’s 2024 Transfer Honor Roll

For the fourth year in a row, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has named Wilmington University one of America’s most transfer-friendly colleges.

One of just 228 colleges on Phi Theta Kappa’s 2024 Transfer Honor Roll, WilmU was recognized for its dynamic pathways that support transfer students through its open admissions policy, affordable tuition, accessible recruiters and active student life.

“We provide our transfer students with a seamless process, enabling them to focus on their academic pursuits and integrate rapidly into the Wilmington University community,” says Dr. LaVerne Harmon, president of Wilmington University. “This recognition from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society honors our efficient transfer system, caring environment, and the dedication of our faculty and staff.”

Transfer College Credits

WilmU enrolls five times more transfer students than any other college in the region. Approximately 70% of the University’s enrolled undergraduate students have transferred credits from other schools. Moreover, 82% of full-time students who transfer 60 or more credits to WilmU graduate with a bachelor’s degree. Tuition rates are the same for both in-state and out-of-state students.

“The goal of most students attending community college is earning a bachelor’s degree, but few do because of financial barriers and the complexity of the transfer process,” says Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa, via a statement on the PTK website. “We are proud to recognize the exceptional colleges and universities that go above and beyond to create accessible pathways to bachelor’s degree completion for community college transfer students.”

Your Path to Degree Completion

Wilmington University welcomes students seeking to transfer their previously earned credits — up to 90 undergraduate credit hours from any accredited institution. Community college graduates can transfer their entire associate degree toward a personalized course track that leads to a variety of bachelor’s degrees.

A wide range of online, in-person and hybrid degree and certificate programs are available through the University’s global online campus and Delaware locations.

Other transfer-friendly features include rolling admissions with classes beginning every eight weeks and the option to earn WilmU academic credit through prior learning assessments, certificate programs, military coursework and occupational training certifications.

WilmU’s Phi Theta Kappa graduates can join the society’s first and only Delaware alumni chapter.

“Transfer students who were involved in Phi Theta Kappa at their first school have the opportunity to join WilmU’s chapter,” says Dr. Taylor McCusker, director of Student Life at Wilmington University. “This allows them to continue to tap into the many benefits of Phi Theta Kappa membership, such as professional development and scholarships.”
