DBA Alumni Move Up the Career Ladder

Dr. Derese Bikila and Dr. Christina Russell

Created for managers, consultants, and educators, Wilmington University’s DBA program equips scholars to become thought leaders sought out by organizations. Just ask two recent alumni.

DBA alumnus Derese Bikila is now the manager of Economic Development Programs for Montgomery County, Maryland. In this role, Dr. Bikila manages federal and state government grants targeted at helping local businesses. He is also teaching business classes at Prince George’s Community College.

DBA alumna Christina Russell developed a compliance maturity benchmarking instrument in her dissertation research. That knowledge will be crucial to her new position as associate director of University Compliance at Old Dominion University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dr. Russell will be the inaugural compliance officer and can build the university’s compliance program from the ground up.

Dr. Kathy Kennedy-Ratajack, dean of the College of Business, says the DBA program provides a competitive advantage in attaining organizational leadership roles.

“Strategic leadership and decision-making skills are highly valued in executive and leadership roles,” she says. Our College of Business DBA graduates are dynamic leaders in their industry. They are equipped with research and business strategy skills that enhance the workplace and provide a diverse perspective to industry issues.”
