Her lecture, Enhancing Professional Communication Skills in the Lower Mekong: An ESP Approach,  covered many areas of interest including TESOL in Southeast Asia, successful course design, technology-incorporated English training (for education and business), student presentations and professional communication skills.

Dr. Nuangpolmak is a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University Language Institute in Bangkok, Thailand, where she teaches English for academic purposes. She is conducting research at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor to follow up on the Lower Mekong Initiative Professional Communication Skills for Leaders Project, a five-year English capacity-building endeavor for government officials. Her research has assisted with the creation of free online curriculum materials currently being used by the U.S. Department of State.

The lecture was presented at WilmU’s Pratt Student Center and was streamed live for online faculty and students to attend.  A recording of the lecture can be found here.

Dr. Nuagpolmak’s lecture was conducted through the Fulbright Scholar Program’s Outreach Lecturing Fund, which enables visiting scholars to share their research interests, speak about their home country, and exchange ideas with American students, faculty and community organizations. Through these lectures, universities forge relationships with the Fulbright Scholar Program, visiting scholars, and visiting scholars’ homes and host institutions.
