Exemplary Faculty Development

The first four faculty members have completed the rigorous Exemplary level in the Pathways to Instructional Excellence (PIE) program.

Introduced in October on Faculty Development Day, the Exemplary level requires completion of the Essential, Proficient, and Mastery level programs. The first four to earn the honor are:

  • Aaron Sebach, College of Health Professions
  • Elizabeth Simonsen, College of Health Professions
  • Shawn Stevens, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Karen Marie Wagner, College of Business

“They were interested and motivated and worked incredibly hard to participate in every program they could,” says Sandra Bennett, M. Ed, instructional technologist on the Online Learning and Educational Technology team. “PIE is designed to lead instructors but personalized in that they choose the workshops they want to take.”

The pathway leads instructors to enhance their skills in both the online and face-to-face experience. PIE was three years in the making and includes face-to-face workshops, webinars and self-paced training courses facilitated by an educational technologist. Exemplary level electives include such topics as interpreting student survey feedback and alternatives to conventional assessment.
