January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and to help raise awareness, Wilmington University invites you to attend expert-led <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/humantraffickingsymposium\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">webinars<\/a> now through April.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are \u201cfree educational and professional development opportunities for everyone to learn more about human trafficking, cultural aspects of help-seeking behaviors, professional burnout and developing resilience,\u201d says <strong>Dr. Johanna Bishop<\/strong>, director of Behavioral Science programs in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/behavioralscience\/indexs.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Social and Behavioral Sciences<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Jan. 28, <strong>Loretta Young<\/strong>, a Delaware Family Court commissioner, will explain \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/forced-criminology-labor-trafficking-by-forced-criminality-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forced Criminology: Labor Trafficking by Forced Criminality,\u201d<\/a> which is when traffickers compel victims to commit crimes like shoplifting or drug dealing. Later that day, <strong>Brian Moore<\/strong> will teach <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/grooming-awareness-and-prevention-knowing-what-you-dont-know-webinar-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cGrooming Awareness and Prevention: Knowing What You Don\u2019t Know.\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Feb. 25, <strong>Daniel Burke<\/strong> will discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/grooming-behavior-in-athletics-webinar-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cGrooming Behavior in Athletics,\u201d<\/a> and <strong>Dr. Cristina Flores-Gil<\/strong> will present <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/not-crazy-cultural-conceptualization-of-mental-illness-among-the-latinoa-community-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cNot Crazy: Cultural Conceptualization of Mental Illness Among the Latino\/a <\/a>Community.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 25, <strong>Frank Burton Jr<\/strong>., a retired FBI special agent, and <strong>Nahel Abdel Meguid<\/strong> will share firsthand experiences during <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/hate-crimes-discussion-of-an-actual-case-worked-by-the-fbi-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cHate Crimes: Discussion of an Actual Case Worked by the FBI.\u201d<\/a> Then <strong>Cynthia Powell<\/strong> will address the unique challenges helpers face in <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/cultivating-resilience-mindfulness-and-wellness-strategies-for-first-responders-and-health-care-professionals-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cCultivating Resilience: Mindfulness and Wellness Strategies for First Responders and Health Care Professionals.\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Offering Human Trafficking Education&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to provide these public educational opportunities and learn about human trafficking, we have also learned that we need to address the emotional and psychological demands this work makes on those working in the helping professions,\u201d Dr. Bishop says.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 29, <strong>Christopher Workman<\/strong>, a career police officer, will explore <a href=\"https:\/\/events.wilmu.edu\/site\/academiccolleges\/event\/policing--mental-health-silence-behind-the-blue-wall-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cPolicing &amp;
