This degree program is \u201cat the cutting edge of the technology.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilmington University\u2019s accredited and affordable master\u2019s in Computer Science gives you the skills to handle complex real-world computing challenges and pursue a career in one of the fastest-growing fields in the United States.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so popular now because the demand for data scientists shot up 170% after ChatGPT came out,\u201d says <strong>N.V. Raman<\/strong>, the program chair.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choose From Two Concentrations: Data Science and Software Engineering&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Launching in fall 2024, the 30-credit, STEM-designated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/technology\/computer-science-master.aspx#intro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MS in Computer Science<\/a> program offers two specialized concentrations: Data Science and Software Engineering. With this master\u2019s degree, you\u2019ll develop a critical understanding of programming languages, algorithms, data structures, system requirements and ethics while honing your communication and problem-solving skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy encouraging a culture of curiosity, collaboration and ethical responsibility, the MS in Computer Science program prepares students to become visionary leaders capable of driving impactful change in the digital world,\u201d Professor Raman says.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gain the expertise you need to become a data engineer, DevOps engineer, information systems manager, machine learning engineer, software engineer and more.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so much that you can get out of this degree,\u201d says Professor MacKenzie, the instructor for Python Programming and Intro to Data Science. \u201cEverything that you\u2019re going to take will have an impact on where you can go in your career.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nontechnical Track: Earn a Master\u2019s in Computer Science Without a Computer Science Undergraduate Degree&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you interested in a tech career but lack an undergraduate degree in the field? The MS in Computer Science program provides a perfect opportunity to reskill.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople with a technical degree \u2014 like a degree in computer science or any technology, cybersecurity, networking \u2014 they can be admitted directly without any prerequisites,\u201d says Professor Raman. \u201cBut we also provide an opportunity for nontechnical people because there are a lot of them out there who want to get into the IT field, especially data science.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the nontechnical track, you must complete four prerequisites: Computer Science Fundamentals, Object-Oriented Programming, Java Programming I and Database Foundations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dual-Credit ADVANTAGE\u2122 Can Save You Time and Tuition&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in WilmU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/technology\/computer-science.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BS in Computer Science<\/a> program can make significant headway on their master&#8217;s degree through the accelerated BS to MS in Computer Science pathway, incorporating five graduate-level courses into the undergraduate Computer Science program.
