Thomas Middle School, which opened this fall in Lewes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an article in the Cape Gazette, Principal <strong>Dave Frederick<\/strong> says he is excited to work with Catts, who recently became nationally board certified and is working on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/education\/educational-leadership-doctorate.aspx\">doctorate in Educational Leadership<\/a> at WilmU. Catts also holds a school principal and assistant principal certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe has a really strong instructional background,\u201d Frederick says. \u201cShe has also been a teacher leader in the district for a number of years by involving herself on committees and pursuing her doctorate degree.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Catts joined the district in 2012 as a third-grade teacher. She became the Cape Accelerated Program teacher in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the article, Catts says she looks forward to nurturing a welcoming and inclusive culture from the ground up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want our school to be a nourishing part of our community where students feel seen and heard; I want to create a place that students want to come to,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meghan Catts, a Wilmington University adjunct and doctoral student, is proving that advanced studies provide a leg up on the career ladder.
