At the heart of teaching is the ability to present knowledge to students in ways that help them learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Wilmington University, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilmu.edu\/education\/indexe.aspx\">College of Education and Liberal Arts<\/a> is strengthening its approach to teacher preparation with a new assessment designed to ensure graduates are ready to lead in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WilmU has developed and implemented Teacher Preparation PAWS (Performance Assessment for Wilmington Students), a state-required Pedagogical Performance Measure (PPM) that evaluates teacher candidates\u2019 classroom readiness and effectiveness in educating students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Created in response to Delaware regulatory requirements, PAWS provides a framework for measuring how effectively candidates apply their knowledge and skills in teaching settings. The assessment received positive feedback from external reviewers and the Delaware Department of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new measure also supports WilmU\u2019s ongoing efforts to assess and improve its educator preparation programs.
