Nurse Practitioner Adjunct Honored for Care and Leadership

Dr. Stacy Thomas

Dr. Stacy Thomas has been recognized among the nation’s top nurse practitioners, receiving the 2026 State Award for Outstanding Contributions from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Dr. Thomas, a family nurse practitioner affiliated with Beebe Healthcare, was selected as Delaware’s honoree for the prestigious annual award, which recognizes excellence in clinical practice, leadership and advocacy. Dr. Thomas serves as adjunct faculty at Wilmington University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she helps prepare the next generation of nurse practitioners. She is a military veteran, having served more than two decades in the U.S. Air Force and retiring with the rank of major.

The award highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing patient-centered care and strengthening the profession through practice, education, research and leadership. Nurse practitioners provide comprehensive primary care services across the lifespan, with a focus on preventive care, chronic disease management and patient education.

Colleagues describe her work as grounded in clinical expertise and a commitment to community health. Dr. Thomas and other state honorees will be formally recognized at an AANP National Conference.
