Dr. Tasha Jackson-Thomas showed young people how to tap technology to improve their lives and careers at the Tech Connect Workshop at the Tech Council of Delaware’s Annual Tech Ecosystem Conference at Wilmington University.

“We are at a pivotal point in human history, where technology isn’t just perceived as a tool but as the canvas on which we are designing our collective future. The conference empowered individuals to become active artists in this digital transformation rather than passive observers,” says Dr. Jackson-Thomas, chair of Applied Technology, ISM Programs, and Contemporary Technology Applications. “Through a comprehensive workshop covering digital literacy, AI mastery, and career-advancing tech skills, participants not only learned about technology — they also learned to leverage it as a multiplier for their envisioned success.”

Sponsored by JPMorganChase, the third annual event connected under-employed and unemployed young adults in New Castle County to skills training programs, the local tech community, and career opportunities in technology, a sector central to the state’s long-term economic prosperity.

The free, one-day event provided an immersive experience featuring inspiring speakers, panel discussions with technologists and tech leaders, interactive life skills workshops, resource booths, and opportunities for professional networking. Attendees also received a headshot photograph and two months of post-conference career planning to take their next steps in their tech journeys.

At the Tech Connect Workshop, participants gained hands-on experience using ChatGPT and learned to apply technical skills for personal development and career enhancement.
