Great Hires Help Advance HR Careers

Hiring and retaining the right talent is essential for organizations to thrive. The College of Professional and Continuing Education, in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management, is offering the SHRM Specialty Credential in Talent Acquisition.
The course comprises 16 hours of in-person education on practical strategies for success in recruiting top candidates, hiring them, and retaining them on board. Learners who complete their certificates receive 22 professional development credits (PDCs) through SHRM, a human relations advocacy group.
“Effective talent acquisition (TA) is vital for organizations aiming to attract, hire, and retain top talent effectively because it directly impacts business success by ensuring the right people are hired to drive innovation, productivity, and growth,” says course instructor Dr. Karen Wagner-Clarke, chair of the Business Management Program. “Effective TA not only fills immediate needs but also shapes the future of the organization by enhancing hiring quality, boosting efficiency and reducing costs, improving candidates’ experience, building strong teams, fostering a positive culture, strengthening employer branding, and enabling future leadership.”
The course will be offered twice in August, Aug. 6-7 and 13-14, and twice in October, Oct. 15-16 and 22-23.
