WilmU’s New Applied Business Degree Is All About Flexibility

Do you have college credit, work experience or military training but don’t know how to translate that into a degree? Wilmington University’s new bachelor’s degree in applied business offers the fundamental knowledge and flexibility you need to meet your career goals in a variety of industries.

“I’m really excited about it,” says Dr. Mary Pat Braudis, the program chair. “This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who has accumulated a lot of college credits along the way.”

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Business — available in person, 100% online or a combination of both — is the only degree of its kind in the region. It prepares you to take on new roles in your career, advancing to general manager, team leader, supervisor, human resources specialist, customer service representative, event planner, loan officer and more.

“A lot of students will find they want a general business degree,” she explains. “This degree gives students broad information, a broad overview in all facets of business.”

The fully accredited program starts this fall with courses in communications, management, marketing, analytics, finance, accounting, problem-solving and strategy. Thanks to many elective options, you can customize your degree to reflect your interests and career aspirations — for example, construction management, leadership, marketing or human resources.

“You can earn this degree with a concentration in construction management,” says Dr. Braudis, who has a doctorate in business administration from the University. “That option, like many other concentrations, fits this degree so beautifully.”

Already working in construction or another field? With WilmU’s complimentary prior learning assessment, make the most of on-the-job experience, apprenticeships, trainings, licenses and certifications. A team will review your qualifications, including any past coursework, so you don’t need to pay to learn what you already know. The applied business program meets you where you are and allows you to transfer up to 90 undergraduate credits.

“This is both a completion degree and a full degree,” she notes. “The keyword with this degree is it offers exceptional flexibility.”

Dual-Credit ADVANTAGE™ also helps you accelerate into an MBA or an M.S. in Management — at no extra tuition cost.

“It’s going to give students the credential that they need to further their career,” Dr. Braudis says, underscoring that the Bachelor of Science in Applied Business can lead to a wealth of professional opportunities.
