Want to form relationships with other students on their way to careers in health care? Join the Pre-health Club. Launching this spring, the club is a place where students in Health Science, Natural Science and Nursing programs can share common experiences and make connections.
“The club offers us an opportunity to help each other grow in our professional goals and also get to know one another socially,” says Sean Samitt, a Health Sciences junior and the club’s acting president.
Samitt, who worked as a certified pharmacy technician for 10 years before enrolling in WilmU’s College of Health Professions and Natural Sciences, is considering two career paths: becoming a physician assistant or earning a master’s in Health Care Administration. He’s looking forward to talking with other students about their educational goals. The club also will provide a place for students to explore shadowing opportunities, prepare for tests, network, and get involved in community service.
“There’s a lot of camaraderie working in health care, and I think that will be reflected in the club,” Samitt says.
Students will be able to make suggestions as to the goals and roles of the club through a survey. Initially, meetings and activities will be held virtually, with plans to expand to in-person, on-campus events.
