Dr. Jorge Velazquez, an adjunct instructor in the College of Business, is using his expertise in management and development to help train effective supervisors at nonprofit organizations. In April, he will be presenting at the Child Welfare League of America’s (CWLA) National Conference in Washington D.C. on a supervisor curriculum that he co-authored for CWLA’s Training Institute.
The conference is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of workers, supervisors, managers, and directors, leading to a stronger, prevention-focused system that will contribute to more prosperous families and communities. That includes supporting professional engagement, partnerships, and team building through supervision techniques. Founded in 1920, CWLA is a coalition of public and private agencies focused on improving leadership and practices.
Dr. Jorge Velazquez, who earned his DBA at Wilmington University, also published an article in the Child Welfare Journal, a publication of CWLA, where he addresses issues in society that influence Latino and Hispanic children entering child welfare services.
