In the game of life, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and its student-athletes strive to excel in both academics and athletics. That’s due, in part, to CACC’s faculty athletic representatives, led by Dr. Matt Wilson, director of Liberal Arts, who was recently elected to a two-year term as chair of the group.
In his leadership role, he will help ensure that faculty from the conference’s 13 member colleges and universities have a voice in CACC athletic endeavors.
“The primary purposes are to promote academic success, to promote institutional control of intercollegiate athletics, to facilitate the integration of the athletics and academic components of the collegiate community, and to enhance the student-athlete experience,” Dr. Wilson says.
The CACC tied for fourth nationally among Division II Conferences for the graduation rate of its student-athletes, according to the latest NCAA report. Wilmington University, home of the Wildcats, has had six students receive CACC Top XVI Awards for academic excellence. The CACC includes schools in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and encompasses 16 sports.
