Online Live Courses Up and Running

Wilmington University has taken another step forward in accessible, flexible education with new Online Live courses introduced in the fall 2021 semester. The innovative initiative was developed by a workgroup led by Dr. Sallie Reissman, dean of the College of Online and Experiential Learning, who evaluated recommendations based on student feedback, instructor insights, and research in academia and industry.

The result is live, online course modality that includes regularly scheduled synchronous online meetings. Traditional online courses often have optional live meetings, but the online live courses contain regularly scheduled synchronous online meetings.

So far, about 200 students have enrolled in these courses, which include classes in accounting, mathematics, English, technology, nursing, and social sciences. More courses will be offered in the spring semester. Initial feedback indicates the courses are well received. COEL’s Technology Department will continue to follow up with faculty and students to identify areas of improvement.  To learn more about the Online Live modality, visit: https://www.wilmu.edu/onlinelearning/live.aspx
