Nursing Alum Leads State Professional Association

Christopher E. Otto, MSN, RN, CHFN, PCCN, CCRN, is the new executive director of the Delaware Nurses Association.

Christopher OttoOtto, who earned his BSN at Wilmington University, is back at WilmU working towards his second graduate degree in the Master of Business Administration program, with a concentration in non-profit management.

For more than 100 years, the DNA has been dedicated to bringing positive change to the health of Delawareans by improving standards and access to care. Otto is leading the group’s new special task force on equity, formed to support nurses across the state in designing and implementing programs and policies that promote health and social equity.

Otto served two terms as secretary for the DNA’s board of directors, where he was instrumental in relaunching the organizational affiliate program and promoting nursing recognition at the state level.

A nurse manager at ChristianaCare, he had served as the DNA’s interim executive director since July 2020. In addition, Otto has served on state and national nursing committees and as a peer reviewer for the American Nurses Association and American Nurses Credentialing Center conferences and award programs. He has written on a variety of topics, including critical care nursing.
