Service During Challenging Times

Faculty from WilmU’s College of Business (COB) are finding creative ways to continue community outreach and partnerships despite the COVID-19 pandemic, including participation in the First Annual WilmU Virtual Open House.

“The pandemic has had a tremendous impact on so many organizations and institutions,” says Dr. Kathy Kennedy-Ratajack, dean of the COB. “We are committed to finding ways to meet the challenge and remain engaged with students and our communities.”

Dr. Carrie White Gray, who directs the COB’s Business Management programs, also reflects that can-do spirit. She has participated in a strategic planning meeting with the Delaware Historical Society and is leading follow-up discussions with the its strategic planning committee. Dr. Gray, who has extensive experience in the nonprofit community, is the former executive director of the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation, a public-private partnership devoted to the city’s revitalization.

Dr. Gray also coordinated a meeting at which COB faculty proposed entrepreneurship courses and programs with representatives of True Access Capital, a financial institution that provides underserved business owners in Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania with technical expertise and access to capital. In addition, she’s taken part in events sponsored by the Forum of Executive Women, a group she has led as president.
