Dr. Jennifer Palmer, a longtime educator and administrator who earned her doctorate at Wilmington University, has returned as an adjunct graduate program coordinator in the College of Education.
She earned her EdD in Education Leadership and Innovation in 2012, when she also was presented with the EdD Academic Achievement Award and the Audrey K. Doberstein Leadership Award.
As adjunct coordinator, she will assume responsibility for two advanced program initiatives, including leading WilmU’s National Board Certification (NBC) project, a new program designed to help Delaware teachers achieve NBC. It qualifies them for an 11 percent pay increase. Dr. Palmer attained NBC status in 1998 and has renewed her certification twice since then. She will also manage the Teacher Development Project, enabling classroom teachers to begin a graduate degree program by enrolling them in a three-credit, tuition-free gateway course. They may apply this to other graduate degree programs in the College of Education.
The retired Dr. Joyce Skrobot had previously led the initiative.
Dr. Palmer holds a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from Loyola College in Baltimore. She has experience in staff development, NBC eligibility, instructional coaching, and diagnosing and correcting reading difficulties. She holds credentials as a teacher, reading specialist, principal, and superintendent of schools.
She currently works in the Harford County school system in Maryland, where she was recognized by the Harford County Chamber of Commerce for her outstanding service as an educator.
