Diane Bansbach has been the Mathematics chair in the College of Arts and Sciences since 2013.
She has restructured the department to include course leaders, where experienced adjuncts support instructors who teach the same courses. Working with the course leaders, she has redeveloped many of the courses to align with best practices to increase students’ understanding of mathematics by including contextual projects, incorporating the ALEKS adaptive learning system, and emphasizing active learning teaching methods.
Diane will start work on her dissertation in the fall of 2020, which will focus on how active learning impacts student achievement.
