Dr. Shawn K. McCloud, the new assistant chair of Graduate Studies at the College of Business, brings more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry.
He earned a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree at Wilmington University, where his dissertation reflected his professional experience, titled, Exploring attitudes toward casino gambling and visitation: Perspectives of Middle-Atlantic U.S. adults.
Dr. McCloud also is committed to the community. He serves as a board member and treasurer for three non-profit organizations: the Suburban Swimming Association of South Jersey; Hammonton First, a civic organization; and the Friends of Jean Webster, a soup kitchen in Atlantic City.
In his long and successful career in the gaming industry, Dr. McCloud focused on financial, marketing and operations, working at the Spectrum Gaming Group, the Cordish Company and Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City.
This high-energy educator also enjoys working out and is a competitive bowler. He began his career in academia in 2014 at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, where he was Associate Director of the school’s Mercer County College off-site location. He earned his master’s degree in Hospitality Management Studies from Fairleigh Dickinson and holds a BA in Economics from Stockton University.
