A Leader in Human Services

Dr. Allan Zaback, the recently named chair of Administration of Human Services at WilmU, is passionate about helping students reach their goals.

Dr. Allan ZabackThat includes translating skills learned in the real world to the academic world.

Dr. Zabak has more than 30 years of experience in Human Services with the State of Delaware. As director for the Delaware Division of Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, he managed a $30-million budget and a staff of 130. He also has administered programs for senior adults, many of whom are active and pursuing second careers.

“My goal is to share that wealth of information with both the students and the faculty,” he says.

He has been an adjunct at Wilmington University since 2008. He earned his doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Innovation in 2017. And his daughter is a WilmU student.

“For me, Wilmington University is a natural choice,” he says.

He also is an advocate for students and faculty volunteering their time in the community, which he views as “a natural fit in this field.” In supporting students to prepare for careers or to advance their existing professional paths, he keeps his finger on the pulse of the working world.

“We monitor the community so we can locate where the opportunities are,” Dr. Zaback says.
