Six newly renovated outdoor courts will ultimately complete the Lady Wildcat tennis team’s “home court.”
Delcastle Tennis Center, home of the Wilmington University women’s tennis team, has undergone a major “facelift” this off-season. The newly opened Delcastle Indoor Tennis facility has 6 new courts, a conference room and a full reception area. When fully completed next year, Delcastle will also have 6 completely renovated outdoor tennis courts which will set the stage for a new era in the New Castle County tennis community.
Following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, December 7, co-owners Ron Sanna and Boubacar Toure welcomed community members along with state and county government officials and others who helped to make the new facility possible.
Players and guests had the opportunity to tour the facility and watch as others warmed up on the courts from the viewing windows in the new, upper level mezzanine. With state-of-the-art LED lighting, as well as a new heating and cooling system, players of all ages now have the opportunity to play tennis all year round.
The new complex allows the Lady Wildcats tennis team the opportunity to move matches indoors when scheduled contests are met with unplayable outdoor weather conditions.
