Dr. Rob Rescigno was appointed dean of Wilmington University’s College of Business.
He succeeds Dr. Don Durandetta, who retired from the post after more than 10 years of service to the University.
Rescigno brings a distinctive blend of education and business experience to the position. During his time at WilmU, he has worked as an adjunct professor, associate professor, and most recently, the director of its DBA program. He started his career in education but left his position as principal of Milford High School in 1995 to enter banking. Rescigno worked at MBNA for 12 years, ending as a senior vice president.
During his tenure at MBNA, Rescigno was a founding member of the MBNA Foundation,
which provided more than $15 million in nationwide scholarships. As he puts it, “The common thread of business and education is focusing on the student/customer wants and needs.”
He looks forward to building on the College of Business’s momentum while assessing future needs of the department. He plans to honor author Stephen Covey’s mantra, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood,” which he’ll do by spending time learning the strengths and challenges of each program.
Rescigno earned a professional diploma in Education Administration and Supervision from Saint John’s University and a doctoral degree in Innovation and Education Leadership from Wilmington University. WU
