Dr. Aaron M. Sebach, chair, Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP), has been named community manager of the American Nurses Association (ANA) Up & Comers Online Community.
The community is designed to serve nurses with 5-14 years of experience who are interested in expanding or advancing their careers. It’s also a forum where nurses can network and collaborate with others who are transitioning to a new role, and/or pursuing an advanced degree or certification.
“It’s a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and insights with nurses from across the country,” Dr. Sebach says.
Topics include such issues as leadership, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, mentorship and evaluating advanced degrees. For example, does an MBA offer nurses a more competitive edge than nurses with a master’s degree in public health? Is there value in nurse leaders earning a DNP?
Dr. Sebach’s position as manager of the community also raises the profile of WilmU among nurses. The ANA represents the interests of the nation’s 3.6 million registered nurses and advances the profession by fostering high standards of practice, promoting a safe and ethical work environment, bolstering the health and wellness of nurses, and advocating on health care issues that affect nurses and the public.
Since he began managing the community in December, Up & Comers has grown to 1,300 registered users and continues to expand.
