The only thing that wasn’t on the Wildcats’ side during the 2015 WilmU festivities was the weather. Otherwise, the Wildcats put on a show for the hundreds of alumni, friends and fans that came out to the Athletics Complex on a cold and windy afternoon.
The volleyball team squared off in the gym against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division foe Bloomfield. Bloomfield came into the contest undefeated in CACC play, but the Wildcats took care of business and gave the Bears their first CACC loss, 3-2.
“It was great to play in front of a packed house,” says Coach Kim Huggins-Habbert.
The games moved outside but with similar results. The women’s soccer team started a doubleheader on the turf, and much like the volleyball team, gave Caldwell its first CACC loss of the season, 1-0.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the turnout and support in my first year as a head coach,” says Coach Jeff Zoyac says.
The men’s soccer team took down Caldwell, 3-0, to stay undefeated in CACC play and to sweep the day for all three sports.
“I think its great that the school rallies around all the teams and athletic department,” says Coach Nick Papanicolas. “It’s special that the University can host an event where students, staff, and alumni can all come together to share pride for the university.” WU
